My Story: From Sobriety to Digital Freedom

In 2019, I quit alcohol — and it completely changed my life.
My sober journey helped me reconnect to my intuition, my purpose, and my true self. But over time, I realized something surprising: I’d replaced one addiction with another.

I went alcohol-free via a Facebook community - and every time I felt lonely, bored, anxious or was craving alcohol - I'd scroll on Facebook or Instagram. It soon moved towards Tik Tok, too.
I was no longer numbing with wine - I was numbing with the scroll.

(If you read my book, Sober Yoga Girl, you can probably spot my Instagram issues from a mile away!)

I knew Instagram was the issue (much like in 2019, I knew alcohol was the issue.)
But this time, I couldn’t find any real communities to support me. There were so many amazing online circles for sober-curious people to quit drinking alcohol - but nothing for people to walk away from or take a break from social media!

I found ITAA (Internet and Technology Addicts Anonymous), but it didn’t quite capture what I was seeking - a spiritual space to heal my relationship with technology and rediscover who I was without an audience - while continuing to navigate running a business!

Over the past calendar year I’ve gone through long, beautiful streaks of being completely off social media - sometimes for months at a time.
Each time, I felt incredibly aligned: my sleep improved, my creativity flourished, and ironically, my online yoga business did better than ever. I felt grounded, peaceful, and fully in my dharma.

But every time I reconnected with my online sober friends — most of whom I originally met through social media — I found myself getting pulled back into the hamster wheel. I’d start posting again “just a little,” and within days I was back in comparison mode, sleeping worse, scrolling late into the night, and feeling my sense of peace fade away.

That’s when I knew I needed to get serious about it.

Not just a break.
A Sabbatical.

A full year offline to reclaim my time, my attention, and my creativity.

And I thought — why not bring all of you along with me for this?

Because I know I’m not alone. So many of us feel trapped between the pull of connection and the need for stillness. We crave real relationships, deeper creativity, and time for what truly matters.

So I created The Social Media Sabbatical — a sacred online (and offline) community for conscious women, creatives, and seekers who want to live fully, not filtered.

This is a space for people who are done with digital dependency and ready to return to presence, purpose, and peace.

This gives you a longer time to solidify your new habit of being off social media.

365 Days: Deep Dive into Philosophy, Presence & Practice

Focus: One Year, One Text, One Transformation

Deepen your meditation practice and spend each week looking at one yoga sutra, from sutras 1.1 - 1.52. 

The 365 day program gives students access to everything from the 28-day program, plus they can join go deeper into sutras 1.5 - 1.52 - understanding how the ancient philosophy of conciousness and meditation can support them in their social media escape and solidify their new scroll-free life!
